What is the DRHS mock test?
The Director's Role for Health and Safety, or DRHS, is a one-day CITB Site Safety Plus course written for company directors, business owners, board members and senior leaders in construction. It focuses on the duties that sit at the very top of an organisation: setting policy, shaping culture and answering for health and safety performance. Our free mock test lets you rehearse that thinking before the real assessment.
This practice exam follows the same shape as the official DRHS assessment — 25 multiple-choice questions, an 80% pass mark and a 35-minute time limit — so nothing on the day feels unfamiliar. Answer honestly, submit when you are ready, and your results arrive by email within moments. There is no charge and no registration, so you can keep practising until the boardroom duties feel second nature.
What the DRHS mock test covers
Directors' legal duties
Understand the specific legal responsibilities placed on company directors and senior managers, and how personal accountability differs from the general duties owed by other employees.
Core health and safety law
Get to grips with the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act, and what each demands of the boardroom.
The business case for safety
Explore the moral, legal and financial arguments for strong health and safety, and why leading from the top protects people, profit and reputation alike.
Policy, strategy and culture
Learn how directors set health and safety policy, shape strategy and build a positive safety culture that flows from board decisions down to every site.
Leadership and accountability
See how effective governance, visible leadership and clear lines of accountability turn safety commitments into everyday practice across an organisation.
Monitoring and consequences
Review performance using the plan-do-check-act cycle, and understand the fines, sentencing and reputational damage that follow when leadership fails to act.

How to pass your DRHS exam first time
- Sit the full test in one go — give yourself the whole 35 minutes without interruptions, so you build a realistic feel for pacing across all 25 questions.
- Aim comfortably above the 80% pass mark. Targeting 22 or 23 correct out of 25 in practice leaves you a safety margin on exam day.
- Read each question as a director would: focus on legal duty, governance and strategy rather than hands-on site tasks.
- Whenever you miss a question, note the topic and revisit the relevant law or duty before your next attempt.
- Work through all five tests. Because none of the questions overlap, completing the full set exposes you to far more of the syllabus.

DRHS mock test FAQs
Yes, completely free. There is no registration, no card details and no trial period to worry about. Our training partners fund the platform, which means you can practise the DRHS material as often as you like without paying anything.
Each DRHS mock test contains 25 multiple-choice questions, matching the number you will face in the official CITB assessment. Working through the full set gives you a realistic sense of the exam's length and the range of topics it covers.
You need 80% to pass, which works out at roughly 20 correct answers out of 25. We would encourage you to aim higher than that in practice, so a few tricky questions on the day still leave you comfortably above the line.
The test has a 35-minute time limit, the same as the real DRHS assessment. That gives you a little under a minute and a half per question, so it pays to keep moving and avoid dwelling too long on any single answer.
No. Live CITB questions are confidential and cannot be published anywhere. Every question here has been written to reflect the official DRHS syllabus, wording and difficulty, so your practice is highly relevant even though the exact questions differ.
No. This is revision only. To gain the qualification you must attend the official one-day CITB DRHS course and pass its assessment. Use our mock test to build confidence and knowledge beforehand, not as a replacement for the real thing.
Treat it like the real exam: find a quiet space, run the full 35 minutes and answer without notes. Review every question you get wrong, read up on the relevant duty or law, then come back and try again until your scores are consistently strong.
Absolutely. There are five separate DRHS mock tests with no overlapping questions, and the answer options are shuffled each time, so repeating them keeps you on your toes. Work through all five to cover as much of the syllabus as possible.
