What is the SEATS mock test?
The Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS) is a one-day CITB Site Safety Plus course built for site managers, supervisors, environmental champions and anyone responsible for keeping construction projects environmentally compliant. It equips you to understand environmental law, manage waste responsibly, prevent pollution and reduce your carbon footprint on site. Our free mock test lets you gauge that knowledge before you sit the real thing.
Every SEATS mock test on this page contains 25 multiple-choice questions with a 30-minute time limit and an 80% pass mark, matching the structure of the official CITB assessment. Working through the questions helps you spot weak areas, get comfortable with the exam style and build confidence before the classroom. You can practise as many times as you like, completely free, and receive your results by email the moment you finish.
What the SEATS mock test covers
Environmental legislation and penalties
Understand the key environmental laws affecting construction and the serious financial and legal consequences that follow when a site fails to comply with them.
Waste management and duty of care
Learn how to classify, store, transfer and document construction waste correctly, meeting your legal duty of care from the point of production to disposal.
Pollution prevention: water, air, land
Recognise how construction activity can pollute watercourses, the air and the ground, and apply practical controls that stop harmful substances reaching the wider environment.
Resource efficiency and carbon
Explore ways to use materials, energy and water efficiently, cut waste and carbon, and support the sustainability targets increasingly demanded on modern construction projects.
Ecology and protected habitats
Identify protected species and sensitive habitats near your works, and understand your responsibilities for safeguarding wildlife and ecology throughout the life of a project.
Nuisance, incidents and reporting
Control noise, dust and vibration that can disturb neighbours, and know how to respond to, contain and report an environmental incident quickly and correctly.

How to pass your SEATS exam first time
- Sit all 25 questions in one go under the full 30-minute limit — timed practice trains you to keep a steady pace on the day.
- Aim to beat the 80% pass mark comfortably; treat any score below 20 out of 25 as a signal to revisit that topic.
- Read each scenario carefully. Environmental questions often hinge on a single detail such as which watercourse, waste type or protected species is involved.
- After every attempt, note the questions you got wrong and revise those areas before you retake the test.
- Work through all five separate tests. Because no questions overlap, they cover far more of the SEATS syllabus than a single sitting.

Each test contains 25 multiple-choice questions, exactly like the official CITB SEATS assessment. This gives you a realistic feel for the length and depth of the real exam every time you practise.
The pass mark is 80%, which means you need to answer about 20 of the 25 questions correctly. Aim to clear that threshold consistently across several attempts before you sit the actual course assessment.
You have 30 minutes to answer all 25 questions, matching the timing of the official assessment. That works out at a little over a minute per question, so practising against the clock helps you manage your pace.
No. Live CITB questions cannot be published, so ours are written by us to match the official SEATS syllabus, style and difficulty. They prepare you thoroughly for the real assessment without reproducing its actual content.
No. This is practice only. To gain the qualification you must book and attend the official one-day CITB SEATS course and pass the assessment delivered by an approved training provider.
Use it to check your understanding as you revise. Sit a test, review every question you missed, study those topics, then try again. Repeating this until you consistently beat 80% is an excellent way to prepare.
Absolutely. There are five separate tests with no overlapping questions, and the answer options are shuffled on each attempt. You can retake them as many times as you like to cover the whole syllabus and keep your knowledge sharp.
