What is the TWS mock test?
The Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) course is a one-day Site Safety Plus qualification for those who oversee temporary works on site under the direction of the Temporary Works Coordinator. Our free TWS mock test lets you rehearse for the end-of-course assessment in realistic conditions, so you arrive knowing the format, the timing and the kind of knowledge the examiner expects you to demonstrate.
Each test mirrors the official exam: 20 multiple-choice questions, a 76% pass mark and a 45-minute limit. The questions span the full TWS syllabus, from BS 5975 and the temporary works register to inspections, communication and knowing when to stop work. Complete a paper and your results land in your inbox within moments, pointing out exactly where a little more revision would pay off.
What the TWS mock test covers
BS 5975 and your role
Understand where the supervisor sits in the temporary works process and how BS 5975 shapes safe design, control and coordination on site.
Supervising each stage
Oversee erection, use, maintenance and dismantling of temporary works, making sure every stage follows the approved design and the permit to load or proceed.
Design brief and register
Check work on the ground against the design brief and the temporary works register, confirming the right design, drawings and reference numbers are in place.
Inspections and monitoring
Carry out regular inspections and ongoing monitoring, recording what you find and confirming the temporary works stay stable, loaded correctly and fit for use.
Communicating with the TWC
Keep clear lines open with the temporary works coordinator and operatives, reporting progress, changes and concerns so decisions are made with the full picture.
Knowing when to stop
Recognise the warning signs that something is wrong, understand your authority to stop work and escalate promptly to the coordinator before risks grow.

How to pass your TWS exam first time
- Treat the clock seriously: with 45 minutes for 20 questions you have just over two minutes each, so keep moving and flag anything you want to revisit.
- Read every question twice. TWS answers often turn on a single word like 'must', 'design' or 'coordinator', so slow down before you choose.
- Aim well above the 76% pass mark in practice. Comfortably scoring 18 or more out of 20 leaves you a safety margin on the day.
- Go through all five tests rather than repeating one. Because no questions overlap, you cover far more of the syllabus across the full set.
- When a question stumps you, make your best choice and move on. With only 45 minutes, an unanswered question costs you more than a considered guess.

TWS mock test FAQs
Yes, entirely free. There is no registration, no card details and no trial period. The platform is funded by selected training partners, so you are welcome to practise as often as you like at no cost.
Each TWS mock test has 20 multiple-choice questions, matching the number you will answer in the official Temporary Works Supervisor assessment, so the length feels exactly like the real thing.
The pass mark is 76%, which works out at roughly 16 correct answers out of 20. We would encourage you to aim higher in practice so you have a comfortable margin on exam day.
You have 45 minutes to complete the 20 questions. That is a little over two minutes per question, which is plenty of time if you read carefully and keep a steady pace.
No. Live CITB questions cannot be published, so ours are written independently to match the official TWS syllabus, wording and difficulty. They prepare you for the style and content without reproducing the actual paper.
No. This is practice only. To gain the qualification you must attend the official CITB Temporary Works Supervisor course and pass the assessment delivered by an approved training centre.
Work through it alongside your course notes and BS 5975. Sit a test, review every answer you got wrong, revisit that topic, then try another test until your scores are consistently strong.
Absolutely. There are five separate tests with no overlapping questions, and the answer options are shuffled each time, so you can keep practising with fresh material for as long as you need.
